| This painting was done on a jean jacket. Using opaque white, lay down a base of white and iron or heat press in between coats. Apply 3 to 4 coats until the background is built up nicely. | Using light opaque beige, begin filling in the markings and shadow areas and lightly mist the lighter areas with this color. | ---> | ---> | Make sure to leave the whitest areas of the leopard untouched. | Using a combination of yellow and golden transparent yellow, lightly mist over the beige areas and fill in the eyes. Then using magenta, spray the nose and mouth areas. Adding some around the eyes and pupil. | Next use dark brown - transparent to fill in the spots and markings and other shadow areas seen in your reference photo. Only misting the shadow areas. | ---> | Fill in the background, leaves, and log at this point using a dark blue, black, violet mixture for the background and light opaque green for the leaves and brown for the log. | I also taped off the bottom of the jacket to add a small logo later on. | Next mist transparent blue/violet over all white areas. This will act as a shadow color when you begin to add the fur texture. | I also sprayed this color around the eyes, nose, and mouth areas and added to the spots, markings, and lightly misted the shadow areas with this color. | Go over the blue/violet areas with white dagger strokes to build up the fur texture. Follow the direction and pattern of the fur in your reference photo. This is essential to create the correct flow of the animal. | Using a reduced white/blue mixture, add some detail and highlights to the eyes and nose area. | I also whitened the teeth with a paintbrush at this point to bring them out more. | ---> | ---> | Next, build up the background using the dark blue/black/violet mixture and clean up any overspray edges from the cat. Use a dark green/blue mixture to add detail and shadows to the leaves and log. | ---> | Next go over some of the markings and spots with a dark tranparent brown to further enhance them. | ---> | ---> | Next add more detail to the log using light and dark browns. Then use a dark tranparent purple/violet to go over all the dark brown areas, use this color to lightly mist over all the light areas of the cat as well. | ---> | ---> | Next darken the nose, mouth and around the eyes with pink and use this color to also mist some within the ears. At this point I heatpressed/ironed the design to help define the upcoming stroke/fur texture. | Begin building up the fur texture using white. Then use the dark blue/violet mixture to go over the white fur texture and highlights on the nose, eyes, and mouth. | Repeat this process a couple of times. Add fur strokes then mist with blue/violet mixture. This process will create more depth in your design. | Next, go over the spots, pupils, and other shadow areas on the cat and log with a mixture of thinned down black/violet and add a few dark whiskers with this mixture. | Then add long white whiskers and shorter hairs to the chin area using opaque white and further highlight the pupils and mouth area. | ---> | ---> | ---> | Finished design. |
